Harbour Church

What’s a Home Fellowship?
Our Home Fellowships are smaller break-out groups of the larger Harbour church body that meet in homes throughout south Florida every Sunday morning (except 1st Sunday).

Home Fellowships are the heart of what The Harbour is all about; providing a safe place for people to share their hearts, ministry gifts to be expressed, mentoring relationships to be formed and friendships forged.

We believe that the intimate community and spiritual interaction that takes place during these times is not only changing lives, but changing our idea of what God intended His church to be. These meetings have become the most beloved element of our church, enabling us to provide real help for the everyday issues of our lives.

What should I expect?
Each Home Fellowship consists of a time of worship, a group Bible study, personal ministry, a time of prayer, communion and a meal shared together at the end.

Because each Home Fellowship is its own family unit, each member is involved in the small duties and chores required to “run the house”, including provision of the meal and teaching the children within the group.

Why are Home Fellowships on Sunday morning?
At The Harbour, we believe that: Even as the global body of Christ is broken down into regional families for community, encouragement and accountability, local church families should also be broken down into smaller fellowships for the same purpose.

Not only should these small fellowships exist, but they are the heartbeat of the church. Jesus may have preached to thousands during the day, but every night he ended up around a camp fire with only 12 men.

It is very difficult to build strong, meaningful relationships by solely attending a large corporate service once a week.

Meeting in homes on Sunday mornings is simply a matter of showing what is most important to us as a church.

Home Fellowships are prioritized because we believe that being part of a close family of believers is one of the greatest joys we can experience in life.

Walking closely with both God and His people is vital to Christian victory in the short time that we have on this earth.

Are Home Fellowships in the Bible?
In the New Testament, it is clear that the believers of the early church met together on a regular basis in homes to worship, to give and receive ministry, and to share a meal with one another (Acts 2:42:27, 5:42, 8:3, 12:12, 16:40, 28:30; Romans 16:5; 1 Corinthians 14:26, 16:19; Colossians 4:15; Philemon 1:2).

We recognize from Scripture that meeting in homes to worship is vital to the success of any community of believers.

Home Fellowship Schedule
Home Fellowships are divided into Fall and Spring Semesters with a transition month between each semester.

  • Fall Semester – July to November
  • Transition Month – December
  • Spring Semester – January to May
  • Transition Month – June

The transition months exist to give the Leadership Teams an opportunity to rest and revive before the start of a new semester.  During the months of June and December, we do not have Home Fellowships—instead, we join together corporately in the Minister Center each Sunday at 10am.  In addition, we do not have Friday Night Services, Tuesday Night Prayer, Furnace for Moms & Kids, Harbour Youth Meetings, or Common Ground Groups.  All areas of service resume the first month of each semester.

What about my children?
HarbourKids, our children’s ministry, is also part of Home Fellowships.  Our mandate is to effectively raise up the next generation and Home Fellowships are a great setting to see this take place.  When you pick a Home Fellowship, please read the HarbourKids information under each group to determine which home would best suit your family’s needs.
